I have been honored to be part of the transformation journey that Dubai has witnessed for more than four decades while working at Dubai Municipality. My professional journey began in 1960 as an Assistant Engineer, and I progressed through leadership positions starting from Assistant Director of the Technical Sector, to Deputy Director of the Municipality, then Acting Director of the Municipality, and finally serving as the Director General of Dubai Municipality from 1993 to 2006. Throughout those years, I worked to serve the city and its residents, striving to establish an ambitious vision that transformed Dubai from an emerging city into a global vibrant urban center, shining with modernity and progress.

Notable Milestones

  • One of the most notable milestones in my professional career was the moment when I was honored by the United Nations with membership in the Honor Roll of the Human Settlements Programme in 1994, a recognition I hold dear. In 1998, I was chosen as the first Goodwill Ambassador for the programme in the Arab countries.
  • In 2005, I had the honor of receiving the Alexandria University Award for Regional Leadership, a testament to the appreciation of the institutional and developmental work I provided over the years.
